Why read the food packages?

I have probably in the last few years become a little more conscientious of what is in my products for my skin , hair, and my food.

I have never been a salt person because my father suffered from high blood pressure so I kind of stayed away from salt.   Although I know sugar is not good for you I have not been diligent with staying away except when those jeans and my clothes do not fit the way I like them to fit.

I can honestly say that when shopping or sometimes while cooking I will look on the package for sodium content and some fat.

But after reading an article about what is done to food really does not surprise me.

I mean today it seems if someone whats to make a product go farther they just add something to give it the weight or inject it for it to appear larger.  With this being done, "Who can you trust?"

The FDA well it appears that they are aware of things but allow them to still be used.  For instance I just read an article about how cellulose that is the main ingredient in the making of textiles and paper  is in our foods and is also wood pulp.  If you eat processed cheese or fast food these products  may contain cellulose. But the kicker is that because wood pulp has no nutritional value it is not listed as an ingredient therefore no one knows how much is included in the products.

So I guess this is why people have indigestion.

Even worse we don't know which products have it and what quantity is in that product. What is the recommended daily allowance?  Was the celloluse organic or non organic?

Bon appetit.

What are the benefits of recycling?

I have been a recycler for the past ten years mainly because it is required where I live.  But truthfully it gives me great satisfaction and it annoys my son.  I don't understand why it is such a difficult task but for years he avoided it.  This year I can say that he has joined not cheerfully but he has helped me and contributes to recycling.

I realize as a result most of the time I personally don't have to put trash out every time they are scheduled to pick up.  So I can see the benefits from my recycling.   Do you have any benefits or any  ways we can help to make recycling even more beneficial for us?

Be careful what you touch...

Well with my last job I was always concerned with the things that I came in contact with on a daily basis.  I remember one day I went into a house  and had to leave because I started coughing violently - I did wonder about what I came in contact with while in the house.   I always tried to shield my body from contacting the bushes, weeds and sometimes flower customers' has outside when making my deliveries.  As a matter of fact I would always try and wear gloves because you just never knew what someone else touched before your touched a door or gate.  I thought perhaps I was becoming obsessive compulsive.  I mean I even make sure I use my own pen when I have to sign a receipt because who knows if personal hygiene is top of their list or the other people that have used that pen.  It looks like you just can't win no matter what you do.

This article talks about a  potential  hazard that I feel mainly everyone has been exposed to.

Who has rights?

It always fascinates me  on how the world works.  We try to follow rules in regulations in society and at work and we end paying for the others.  We don't go to jail but our taxes go to benefit the prisons and the inmates. Did you know that people receive carfare checks when they are receiving treatment for substance abuse?  I have worked all my life and never have been sent a carfare check.

Well here is  a case where a family hired someone to take care of their children.  It did not work out and they are afraid that they may be locked out of their home.

The world we live in today is so frightening.

What is in.....

Life was so easy a child. If you were lucky you had parents or guardians that taught you right from wrong and shielded you from harm.  As you got older you had to learn responsibility but you still had mom, dad , or an adult in your life. Then boom you were on your own still  a little unaware of the results of  your actions but using the principles on the way you were raised to deal with life and people.

That was quite sometime ago.... but know it just seems nothing you have learned can help with the possible repercussions of what you eat and drink.  I mean we are generally more health conscious with a host of all the diseases and diagnosis of today.

This is always crosses my mind when I eat anything or drink because we really don't know.  We are not in the restaurant when it is first purchased and we are not in orchards when fruit is harvested. Even with labels we do not know what we are getting because is every product being inspected from beginning to end, What really goes into the products we use as consumers.

I thought that products are to be labeled so that the consumer knew what they were getting. Soap has to be labeled.

If you drink beer it appears that it has ingredients that only the manufacturer' s know but the final  choice is ours.

Recalls

Recall on a charger for a Nokia tablet.

Recall on various items with the fda.

To wash or not wash?

I remember in the past I heard how an individual chose to wear their jeans everyday and not wash them.   I also remember my college professor for English basically appeared as though he to had decided to do the very same thing.  I mean he never seemed to have any hygiene problems as far as I could tell.

I do not know if I could wear my jeans or any of my clothes for a period of time without washing them.

This is not for me.  But what do you think?

For the man in your life.

I don't know why but some of us hate to go to the doctor.  We may go for our once a year physical and if anything changes with our body we push it to the side and we deal with it usually until we can no longer take it.

My father is gone and my mom maybe had I been more observant.  They would both be here.

If you are a man or you know a man listen to what they don't say.  This may help them have a better quality of life.

God Bless.

I'm sorry but this is no surprise.

Everyday if you watch tv or on the internet you hear, "Do you know someone who has taken such and such contact the legal team of such and such you may be entitled to a settlement."

I am so glad and blessed that I don't have to take any medications.  Years ago I remember I was taken a prescription for an antibiotic for bronchitis.   If you read the possible side effects it makes you almost say I will go it alone without the medication.  Quite a few of the side effects possible internal bleeding never have I had this problem and try my best to keep it that way.

Then you see were drugs are such a big problem in society today.  You have people from all walks of life that have either had or are battling some type of problem with drugs. It amazes me how people can take something from someone they don't know when I am frightened of taking prescribed drugs that are obtained from a pharmacy and I hope a legitimate pharmacist.

The ways of old are not only slowly being left they have been abandoned.

Who can you trust?  Where can you get reliable and correct information?

Beware when it comes to your health.

Recall possible listeria

Target and Trader Joe have recalls,   Hot Mamma's Food  Hummus and dips.  Also a recall for walnuts from Sherman Produce Company.  These are voluntary recalls.

I know life is not fair but,,,,,,

It boggles my mind everyday.  We have people who are not perfect but try to do the right thing. They pay their taxes, they work and try to be productive citizens for the benefit of themselves and their families.  They try to respect their neighbors and the law.  A good portion have worked for minimum wage or been unable to afford medical, dental, and vision benefits, although it may have been offered at their job.

It amazes me that for the state of NY it cost about $60,000 dollars a year for an inmate.  Who pays this?  Our taxes.

I know people including myself are human and we can all make a mistake.  I personally have  no
criminal records my only involvement with the law is my speeding tickets.

Some people work and don't make that amount of money per year.  They are not entitled to medical, dental, and benefits that people in jail are receiving.

Where is the justice?

About 7 months ago, one morning I heard some noise so I got up and looked out the window.  My whole block was full of police vehicles marked and unmarked, police large trucks and police everywhere with bullet proof vests on and the big shields they  carry in front of them.   This was about 6 am  they went in and out of the house next door to me. Searched some trash then eventually 3 people where taken out.   That was around 7 am  by 10 am one of them was back on the street.  I wonder how much it cost for that arrest? All that manpower and the other one was out the next day walking around and bragging.   Where is the justice?

Where is it?

The potential hazards to juicing.

Well with anything good there is the possibility of something bad. In life we have to ends of the spectrum healthy versus unhealthy, toxic versus non toxic.  We have to remember even we try to do better there are precautions .

Juicing is suppose to be a healthy alternative for your body to receive the healthy nutrients.  But let's face it we have to always stop and think is this for me; because everything is not for everyone.  We should stop and consider what 1)we inhale - our surroundings, 2) what we eat - how it is processed 3)what type of medications you are using prescribed as well as over the counter, and 4) what type of things are absorbed into your skin.

Be careful how you tread.

Man's best friend

I can appreciate when people have an animal and treat just as family.  They are loving and nurturing and can be a joy - but they are your joy.  I realize that people may find themselves  in situations they have no control of but if you have a pet,  " Isn't this by choice"?  If you have an animal or pet it is your responsiblity to take care of them and all the care that is associated with owing a pet.

Tell me why people think that for any reason I would want to smell or see their pets waste.  This is unsanitary and unhealthy.  Why do you think we get of our waste?

I respect the fact you have a pet even though I do not - but I do not respect the fact that you do not clean up.

If you have a pet, please clean up after them.

Price of beauty

I read an article about the potential hazards of drying your nails at a nail salon with a dryer.  Truth be told what do we not use that causes possible damage. I mean today it is okay and tomorrow there is a recall or statement made stating it causes .....

I think we have to just realize that there is the potential  that this like some of the everyday things we do  may be harmful to our health.

Last year I started paying attention to my nails more and my hair because I worked hard and said I deserve a treat.  But I have to be honest the times I went I would wonder what harm was being done.  I really did not think that much about the dryer but was concerned with the finger nail polish that I was getting applied to my nails and the polish remover.   I mean when I was there the technician would have a mask on her face when doing my nails; so I would wonder if maybe I should also have a mask.   So for me a little common sense kicked in and  I decided I would go ever once and awhile.

I have not been in six months and personally my nails are growing and are clean and clear. This is  one potential hazard averted.
